WordPress is wonderful, and WordPress is a chore. There is always a core update, a plugin update that breaks the thing the last plugin update fixed, a backup you meant to set up, and a malware scan you’ve been meaning to run since the last time something odd showed up in the footer.
easyPress is the arrangement where easyDNS does the chore. You write, publish and sell. The server, the updates, the backups and the caching are handled by people whose job it is, on hardware in Canada, at a price that doesn’t change shape when the renewal notice arrives.
What managed means here
Not “WordPress preinstalled on a generic box.” Specifically:
- Updates. WordPress core and plugins are updated automatically so the fortnightly security release stops being your Tuesday.
- Backups. Daily, included, not an add-on you discover at checkout.
- Security. Malware scanning, locked-down PHP that blocks the usual shady functions, web server rules that stop PHP running where it shouldn’t, random database table prefixes, SFTP-only file access, and a file-and-directory lockdown you can flip on when you’re not editing and off when you are.
- Speed. PHP-FPM as the process manager, APC opcode caching, multi-level MySQL caching, SSD storage. Caching is baked in at every layer, not bolted on as a plugin.
- Watching. Round-the-clock remote monitoring so our admins know about a problem before you do, and a 99.9% uptime target.
What you touch
Three things, and usually only the first:
- wp-admin. Where you’ll spend your time.
- SFTP. For the occasional theme or media upload.
- phpMyAdmin. For the rare database tweak.
If you want more oversight there’s an optional Plesk control panel. If you don’t, you’ll never see it.

No. easyPress is WordPress only and shell access is reserved for easyDNS sysadmins. If you need root or want to run other software, easyVPS is the right product.
